July Update

Hello hello my spooktacular friends!

I know it's been a bit since I’ve posted a blog update… or done a live stream… or a live listen… or put out an episode, but fear not my friends, I have updates… and they are all good news!  At least I believe so.

Okay, let's start with the usual topic of “where the heck is the new episode”?  Right now, I can say with pretty strong certainty that it will be out at the end of this month.  As usual, there were a pile of reasons that created the delay - a full time job that's been extra busy as of late, I managed to throw out my back in a way that sitting for any length of time was next to impossible, and some other personal stuff that doesn’t need to be shared here.  Along with that, we needed to some re-records, but the biggest delay is entirely on me being an over-achiever when it comes to sound design… or as one person in a reddit comment said, being “an absolute madman”, which is a label I will wear with pride.

So, what did I do?  CRAZY SPOILER ALERT (not really) - the first two scenes take place in a diner, and I decided that I needed EVER POSSIBLE SOUND A DINER COULD HAVE.  And, as you know, I like to record all of my own sounds as much as possible.  The first two scenes have approximately 38 unique sound effects and background foley, which is the most I have had in a single episode.  Prior to this, the sleepwalking episode was the winner with about 25 for the entire run.

Now, I know I just said I will have this out by the end of the month, but my real goal is to have it done by this weekend (July 25th/26th) so that I can give you all enough time to plan for a live listen either on Twitch or on Discord.  That is going to require a LOT of focus time for me this week, but I’m going to my gosh-darned best for ya’ll.

One important thing to note here is that the website will NOT be updated with the new episode info until the beginning of August because Adrian (Lee), who handles all the website stuff, will be away, but I will keep everyone updated in our Discord.

On a completely different subject, yours truly was interviewed a few weeks back for the Tales from the Dark podcast, who does some amazing deep dives and story-telling about real life paranormal and horror events.  We focused a lot on the history and the making of Haunted House Flippers, and it’ll be released on most streaming services this Thursday, July 23rd. Be sure to check out the great content they offer!

And the final note of this blog is kind of a big announcement.  Haunted House Flippers, has been invited by iHeartRadio to move over to their service for hosting.  With their assistance, we will be able to immensely expand our reach and cross promote with other podcasts.  This does come with a minor change that may upset some folks, but I am hoping to calm those feelings… which is that we will have ads on the episodes coming very soon.  But, I promise you all that they will NOT be intrusive and will NOT be in the middle of an episode.  They will only play at the beginning and/or the very end.  I will never put an ad in the middle of the show.  I am sure some of you are wondering why I would run ads after having none all of these years, and it really simply comes down to utilizing this opportunity to get our show to more listeners, and maybe make a little extra money so I can pay my wildly talented cast a small tuppance so that they can treat themselves to some classy nuggets and fries or mac and cheese.

This will not likely take place for the release of the next episode because there's some behind the scenes stuff that needs to be worked out first, but it is something on the horizon.

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for now.  I will keep everyone updated on the Discord for when and where the live listen will take place and will also do a little Q&A session for anyone who wants to jump in.

Thanks so much for sticking around and being so patient.  Stay spooky and we’ll see you all real soon.

And remember, if you’ve got it, haunt it.
